Building and Codes Inspector

Under general supervision, performs technical building inspection and plans examining work to enforce compliance with building codes, regulations and ordinances; researches new construction materials and methods; reviews plans for compliance with city, state, and federal rules and regulations; and provides information to and works with the public to resolve problems. License or Certificate: Tennessee Certified Building Inspector; Tennessee Department of Conservation Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Level I Certificate; ICC Certified Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector; ICC Certified Building Inspector; Tennessee driver's license.

Education and Experience: The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties are normally acquired through graduation from high school and a minimum of 5 years related experience. College degree preferred.
