Building Inspector




The Town of Greeneville is growing! The Town is adding another individual to conduct inspections using independent judgement following standard guidelines in compliance with Int’l Building Codes and Town Codes in building construction, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing regulations. Responsibilities also include building a positive working environment with contractors and the public and issuing violation notices, stop-work orders, and construction permits.


Vocational/Technical degree with training emphasis in general building construction, construction trades, and a variety of building inspection specialties, a degree in Building Technology, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a similar field from an accredited college or university as well as at least five (5) years of related, progressively responsible experience in a buildings trade, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.  Must obtain all appropriate certifications in all respective trades/disciplines as designated under the provisions of the Tennessee Building Code, must possess a valid driver license, have the ability to be bonded and to be certified by Tennessee State Fire Marshal.
