City Recorder / Treasurer

The City of Loudon is seeking a highly motivated and qualified City Recorder / Treasurer. This position which reports directly to the General Manager will provide leadership to the City’s Finance and Accounting strategy to optimize our financial performance and strategic position. In this position you will plan, direct, manage and oversee the activities of the accounting and treasury functions of the City of Loudon and provide necessary controls, procedures, analysis, and strategies to meet organizational objectives and ensure the fiscal wellbeing of the City of Loudon. You will ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting. You will also be responsible for the development and ongoing administration of the financial process and in the development and maintenance of the finances and supporting systems.

 Additional responsibilities include:

  • Monitor budgets, monthly financial statements and cash flow projections
  • Insure staff is trained and proficient in the use of current software applications
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, post journal entries
  • Serve as custodian of the City’s public records, bonds, etc.
  • Oversee receipt of all revenues of the city
  • Maintain up to date records of meetings, transactions and municipal licenses for the City
  • Prepare the monthly health benefits amounts into the medical fund
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts with subsidiary records; reconcile revenue accounts with billing records
  • Prepare agenda packages monthly for meetings

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and five (5) years’ experience. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel are required. Excellent organizational and follow through skills are required as well as exceptional communication skills.
