Finance Director
The City of Fairview is seeking applications for a finance director. The finance director performs various administrative and managerial functions associated with all matters related to finance including payroll, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, assets, budget, reporting, risk/insurance, and audit. This position is integral in assuring city, state, and federal financial compliance. The finance director reports directly to the city manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the field of accounting, finance or closely related field. Five or more years’ experience in the accounting field. Certified Municipal Finance Officer designation is preferred, but must be obtained within 2 years of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain accurate financial records and perform accounting functions in a timely manner.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly statement of revenues, statement of expenditures, balance sheets and summary finance reports.
- Prepare documents and reports for annual audit.
- Administer payroll, payroll taxes, and unemployment taxes.
- Coordinate insurance and risk management.
- Maintain fixed asset listing and depreciation schedule.
- Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close procedures.
- Implement budget into accounting software.
- Monitor budget throughout the fiscal period.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must have a character of fiscal and ethical responsibility.
- Must be organized with the ability to schedule work to meet numerous deadlines.
- Must have the ability to perform arithmetic problems with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
- Requires the ability to understand complex legal and regulatory documents.
- Must be able to effectively give and receive assignments and directions to and from staff, supervisors and others.
- Requires the ability to prepare documents and reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate to city staff and the general public through written and verbal presentations.
Requires the ability to make independent judgments in the absence of supervision
Requires the ability to record and deliver information, such as in a public speaking situation, to explain procedures, and to follow verbal and written instructions. - Must be able to operate a variety of task related equipment including, but not limited to, computers, printers, copiers and facsimile machines, telephones, cell phones and motor vehicles.
WAGE RANGE:
$63,782 - $96,475
