Kate Coil serves as Assistant Director of Communications for the Tennessee Municipal League (TML), bringing more than 15 years of experience in journalism and strategic communications. Since joining TML in 2015, she has played a key role in shaping the organization’s messaging and media presence.
As Assistant Editor of Tennessee Town & City, TML’s digital newspaper, Coil is responsible for writing in-depth articles, designing publication layouts, photographing League events, and producing press releases for annual awards and special initiatives. Her commitment to quality ensures that Tennessee’s municipal leaders stay informed and connected.
Prior to joining TML, she covered local government and community issues for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph in Virginia and West Virginia and for the Columbia, Tenn.-based Daily Herald.
Coil holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Middle Tennessee State University, with a concentration in newspaper and magazine journalism and minors in English and global studies.
A ninth-generation Tennessean, Coil was born in Nashville and raised in Murfreesboro, bringing a deep appreciation for the state’s communities to her work.
