The Town of Rossville is accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief until April 13, 2026 for best consideration.
We are seeking an experienced, service-driven leader to oversee fire operations, emergency response, and departmental administration. Minimum qualifications include:
· Associate’s degree and completion of a certified firefighting program
· At least 10 years of experience in the fire protection field
· A minimum of 3 years of supervisory and administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
· Must possess and maintain Tennessee Firefighting Commission (or equivalent with ability to gain reciprocity) Firefighter I & II, Fire Officer I & II certifications.
· The candidate must also possess and maintain Fire Inspector I certifications prior to the completion of the second year of employment as Fire Chief.
· Preferred licenses and certifications include:
o Tennessee Department of Health Division Emergency Medical Services Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) license or higher (EMT-B, EMT-A, or Paramedic) is preferred.
o The National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer and/or the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s Chief Fire Officer credential is preferred.
· Valid Tennessee Driver’s License within 60 days of employment.
· The Fire Chief must establish and maintain residency within 20 road miles of the municipal limits of the Town of Rossville within 60 days of employment.
