Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger has a proposal to change the way state sales taxes are distributed around the state. Currently, cities receive a portion of the state's sales tax revenues based on their incorporated population. Counties don't receive sales tax revenues through the same mechanism.
280 cities will see a reduction in their state shared sales taxes of more than 43% if Mayor Coppinger's proposal is enacted.
